One Piece (Anime) add
Preliminary (200/? eps)
Eiichiro Oda's One Piece blew my mind and every expectation or stigma i had of it, and continues to do so as im not even through one fourth of the show. It's a masterpiece, truly the adventure of a lifetime; it competes with non-anime shows as the perfect fiction, and it's most certainly up there.

One Piece has everything. While watching, it's impossible to not find something that is to your taste. It has depth, and simplicity. Epic action, and a compelling story. Gorgeous and unique animation, and captivating music. A reflection on our own world and politics, yet still an otherworldly fantasy...

I'm aware that not ...

the only bad thing about this is the fact that kitagawa is not a real person, so minus 3 points

no jokes aside this anime is fine, its filled with fan service and it's honestly overwhelming most of the time. if you're able to look past that you'll find a unique plot (that unfortunately is explored too little) and tons of addictive chemistry between the two high school students. kitagawa's bubbly and energetic nature is what clearly carries this show even though a lot of the time she's over the top and completely unrealistic. It somehow still works.

it's most certainly not for everyone though

86 (Anime) add
Mixed Feelings
Preliminary (6/11 eps)
Asato's 86 teaches us that with great ingredients you don't automatically cook a great meal.

This has everything I love in anime. Politics, mechs, action, love, and most importantly an absolutely goated premise. When I read the synopsis of this show, I thought it found a new favourite. But I got scammed.

It's a really generic and simple show. There are a few moments where the show pulls you in but it always ends up anticlimactic.

I don't know if it's the studio's pacing or if the source is just like this, but I feel like there's no room for me to get emotionally attached to ...

Preliminary (12/25 eps)
I don't get it

Subaru's funny and all and his power was really interesting for 2 episodes. After that this turned into the most repetitive harem i've ever laid my eyes on. I don't like writing reviews this short but there really isn't much to talk about. I guess the dialogue is entertaining. I can't lie about the fact that I already dropped it barely over the first half of season 1. But no matter what you tell me im not trying this again

I blame all the TikTok edits of Subaru making me think he's some sort of well written tragic character.

Conclusion: just another isekai

Made in Abyss (Anime) add
Criminally underrated. This should get more attention than it already does and I wonder why it doesn't.

If I had to guess it's the fanbase scaring away potential new viewers by making them think Made in Abyss is disturbing. Yes, the story is less cute than the characters may portray, but in my opinion it's not ''disturbingly'' gruesome. It's brutal and raw. It's like the writer's fantasy has no limits, and the storyline knows no boundaries. This makes you don't have a clue what's coming, and that's exactly what makes this show so bloody addictive. Nowhere in the show I felt like what was happening ...

Serial Experiments Lain did not enchant me the way I hoped it would.

The first episode really got me hooked but all episodes after that felt like a pretentious and unenjoyable mess. The first half of the season honestly felt like a chore to watch. This show is also so insanely unstimulating, I kept on zoning out 24/7.

I really tried to get it. To see what the writers saw in this show. But maybe I'm just missing something. Something crucial that flew over my head that would've made me like this. However I can't imagine myself rewatching this, ever.

It's really such a shame because I ...

best and worst season until now at the same time. how? don't ask me, you should watch it yourself.

if I had put it in words however: its really different. the thematics really shifted. not always in a good way. the iconic dark atmosphere and story line of this show is (of course) there in the third season, but to me fails compared to what came before. it is still sad no doubt about it, well written too. It's just that it's sad only to BE sad. if that makes any sense. it didn't hit nearly as hard as season 2 or especially season 1. maybe ...
