| I'm aware that the series is paying careful attention to the necessary biological functions of people in its elaborate depiction of what it means to explore without the usual amenities (i.e., a restroom or toilet) close at hand, and that obviously includes the need to excrete at some point, but that Riko scene was nevertheless jarring to see. Are her needs really that immediate that she couldn't have held it in for a while? The scene itself, including the ridiculous sound effects, were too crass for my tastes. |

| Made in Abyss is dangerously close to becoming misery porn. The unpleasantries of the first season felt very much a part of the world and the journey. In the film, it started to feel forced. The 2nd season starting with a child rape & branding victim is starting to be misery for the sake of misery. |

The first episode of a show is never too exciting even for a masterpiece like made in abyss. Also I don't remember these chapters of the manga being this gross. Death, body horror and sexual assault I can handle. But shitting?! That's disgusting. Looking forward to more.
